The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (Pub.

L.

108-79).

The National

credit:

Prison Rape Elimination Commission (NPREC) has delivered to the Attorney General its proposed national standards for enhancing the detection, prevention, reduction, and punishment of prison rape in adult prisons and jails, lockups, juvenile facilities, and community corrections.

After giving due consideration to the NPREC’s recommended national standards the Attorney General will publish a final rule adopting national standards for the prevention of and response to prison rape.

In anticipation of a final rule, it is important that correctional agencies be made aware of existing resources and provided with training, technical assistance, and program implementation resources.

The Resource Center for the Elimination of Prison Rape will be established to provide these services and resources to the corrections field to assist in the implementation of the standards.
