Operations Research (Implementation Science) for Strengthening Global Health Protection Implementation

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to strengthen country capacities and capabilities to prevent, detect, and effectively respond to current and emerging public health threats, including potential outbreaks and the spread of infectious diseases.

This FOA supports research that will provide

Ministries of Health and other key stakeholders with the data and evidence to support strategies for the development of public health protection systems, interventions, and policies.

Research projects are limited to countries with either a CDC field office, or CDC presence established through deployment.

Applications will only be accepted from Ministries of Health (MoHs) or their bona fide agents.Mechanism of Support.

Applications will only be accepted from Ministries of Health (MoHs) or their bona fide agents (to include National Public Health Institutes, Ministries of Agriculture, Ministries of Finance, etc.) in countries that either have a CDC field office or CDC presence established through deployment.

Because implementation science can often be strengthened through collaboration with other government ministries and research entities, eligible applicants (MoHs or their bona fide agents) are encouraged to develop a consortium which may be comprised of an additional government entity (such as the Ministry of Agriculture); research institutions from national or international universities and colleges; and/or additional implementing partners, such as multi-lateral aid agencies or non-governmental organizations related to program implementation and evaluation, and/or scientific measurement of needs and outcomes for operational reserarch in areas of the application.Bona fide agent status for a MoH must be documented with either a letter of support or a comparable document from the Ministry of Health (MoH).
