Award Procedures
Applicant submits application through Grants.gov; Application is received by NOAA from Grants.gov through NOAA's Grants Online electronic grants system; Applications are reviewed by responsible Program Office staff for adherence to requirements of the Notice of Funding Opportunity; Those applications selected for further review are reviewed by technical experts and assessed by predetermined criteria; Applications are selected for funding and recommended to approving official; Approved applications are routed to the Grants Management Division for further review and to DOC attorneys for review, if required; Applications receive final review by Grants Officer prior to approval and issuance; The Grants Officer will notify successful applicants in an electronic award notice when the applicant has been selected for an award. Prior to official Grants Officer notification, other officials and employees from the operating unit are prohibited from either formally or informally notifying applicants verbally or in writing that that have been selected for an award.

Non-Federal entities that expend less than $750,000 a year in Federal awards are exempt from Federal audit requirements for that year, except as noted in 2 CFR 200.503.
