Uses and Use Restrictions

The FBI collects, analyzes, and publishes certain crime statistics which it receives on a regular and voluntary basis from law enforcement agencies nationwide.

These data are published annually in the publication, 'Crime In The United States-Uniform Crime Reports,' and are supplemented with preliminary annual and semiannual releases.

The annual publication provides information on (1) crime trends; (2) offenses known to police; (3) age, sex, and race of persons arrested; (4) police disposition of juveniles arrested; (5) police employee; and (6) other information.

Additionally, the FBI annually publishes statistics on Hate Crimes and Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant Eligibility

All participating law enforcement agencies including State and local governments are furnished copies of the annual publication and preliminary annual and semiannual reports.

Limited annual copies of statistics on Hate Crime and Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, along with preliminary annual and semiannual reports are available to any interested individual who sends a request to the: Communications Unit, Criminal Justice Information Services Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Module D-3, 1000 Custer Hollow Road, Clarksburg, WV 26306-0154.

The annual publication is available to the general public for purchase from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S.

Government Printing Office, 710 North Capitol Street NW., Washington, DC 20401.
