Federal Housing Programs

Buying a home is often the most significant investment that a person may make in his lifetime. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, in addition to offering a variety of mortgage insurance programs, supports numerous programs sponsored by state and local governments and nonprofit organizations across the country.

Many of these offerings provide assistance to first time home buyers.

Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has recently established the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program wherein they intend to provide assistance to states, local government units, Native American Tribes, cities, and countries in their complex attempt of determining and controlling lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately-owned rental or owner-occupied dwellings.

Research to Advance Vaccine Safety Program

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has partnered with the National Institutes of Health and as a result, has developed the Research to Advance Vaccine Safety Program, wherein it seeks to obtain a more thorough understanding vaccine safety.
