<p>The Administration for Children and Families, Administration for Native Americans announces the availability of Fiscal Year 2010 funds for community-based projects for the Native Language Preservation and Maintenance - Immersion program.&nbsp; The purpose of ANA grant funding is to promote

economic and social self-sufficiency for&nbsp;American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Native American Pacific Islanders, including American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Immersion program provides funding for projects to support Native Language Nests and Survival Schools&nbsp;providing education and instruction using native languages.&nbsp; To be considered for funding under this priority area, applicants must meet the statutory requirements for a Native Language Nest or a Native Language Survival School in accordance with P.L.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
<p>Eligible applicants include consortia of Indian tribes; incorporated non-Federally recognized tribes; urban Indian centers; Alaska Native villages, as defined in the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and/or non-profit village consortia; tribally controlled community colleges; tribally controlled post-secondary vocational institutions; and non-profit Alaska Native community entities or tribal governing bodies (Indian Reorganization Act or traditional councils) as recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.</p> <p>Non-profit organizations representing&nbsp;&nbsp;American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Native American Pacific Islanders, including American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are eligible applicants under this announcement.</p> <p>To be considered for funding under this announcement, an applicant must meet all the statutory requirements for a Native Language Nest or a Native Language Survival School in accordance with P.L.

109-394.</p> Faith-based and community organuizations are eligible to apply under this announcement.

Individuals and foreign entities are not eligible for awards made under this announcement.
