Support of Advanced Coal Research at United States Colleges and Universities

For 35 years through the University Coal Research (UCR) program, the U. S. Department of Energy's (DOEs) Office of Fossil Energy and the National Energy Technology Laboratory have solicited applications from U. S. colleges and universities.

Annually, through this Funding Opportunity Announcement,

research is sought to advance the science and technology of coal conversion and utilization.

These proposals are evaluated by internal and external reviewers from DOE and industry, and the most meritorious proposals are selected for financial assistance under the UCR program.

This FOA seeks to leverage the unique expertise and national reach of nontraditional partners.

Eligibility for awards under this FOA is limited to national organizations with: Demonstrated reach in a minimum of 15 states across more than 5 HHS specified regions Historical credibility and influence in communities most at risk: Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, gay, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM), and/or transgender persons Demonstrated ability to influence a national dialogue Demonstrated variety of and access to existing communication platforms Demonstrated ability to leverage existing organizational structures, partnerships and resources Primary focus of services other than HIV prevention and education
